Yea, but thats a BBC Alba one, and its just timelapse footage last time I saw, not a graphical sequence.

Still have a soft spot for the originals...

Last night the news channel was a mess , no headlines at 6.30 , an program ad then straight to sport then right to business ( I thought It was rather messy) then straight to the sport again at 9.30! Crying or Very sad

So what was Weekend 24? I'm presuming that was before Weekend Breakfast got simulcast on One and the NC?

Yes we've not had one since January 2003 (on the News Channel at least), when footage was first introduced:

It wasn't until March 2005 though when footage of reporters was introduced into the countdowns:

Weekend 24 was originally News 24's weekend breakfast programming. I don't think it disappeared as soon as BBC Breakfast replaced Breakfast News and began simulcasting on News 24. I seem to recall that Saturday's segment was still called Weekend 24 well into 2001 even though Sunday used Breakfast's branding. Around that time at least part of W24 was simulcast on BBC1/2.

Hopefully someone will have a clearer recollection than I do. But it has been 13 years and I've seen a lot of formats and presenters come and go in that time!

Weekend 24 was shown on BBC Two in the morning at the weekend (originally on just Saturday or Sunday, not sure if eventually both), and started quite soon after News 24 launched (when it was still in N9)

It was an early scheduled opt-in and opt-out into News 24, and had its own pretty distinctive style.

In addition, you may be interested to learn that News 24 had many other branded segments during c.2001. There was Business 24 which I think was dropped and eventually became Business Today with Nils Blythe. Plus there were also some segments like 7 Days (similar to BBC World's This Week), Agenda and Gate 24 (travel programme). ISTR that Gate 24 was dropped and evolved into Fast Track. To begin with, Fast Track was a News 24-produced programme presented by Gwenan Edwards from the second set in N8. It was eventually dropped from the N24 schedule and became a BBC World programme. I think it survives to this day if I'm not mistaken, although I don't think it's had any studio presentation for many years now.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings. Hope that little potted history was interesting.

I think it's that 'in limbo' feeling. I noticed the News channel since yesterday seems to be experiencing not just a lack of presenters - but poor direction/communication with the gallery and presenters, just now the audio's had a complete wobbly on a report.

I wouldn't be surprised if the news channel is being staffed by just a handful of people at TVC.
