Just seen the latest News Channel pilot. The new headline music has some sort of violin riff after the thunderclap which makes it really obvious that they've reset the music after each thunderclap. The extended title music sounds like a very bad copy and paste job. Assume they're waiting on music to be delivered but with only a week to go they're cutting it fine?

It does look like given the size of the desk and the number of presenters doing the promo, N24 will likely go single-headed.

I've seen a few double-headed bulletins, but they oddly frame it on a very loose wide shot with both presenters shunted over to the left and a TV screen on right. The presenters sort of turn themselves to face the camera and it looks as uncomfortable and it sounds.

Oh dear this dosent sound at all good Sad I think we are in for major disappointment Sad

Licence fee funded newsreaders looking uncomfortable is not the way to go.

If double-headed presentation will continue in the desk, no doubt it will really look bad and terrible.

The newsroom backdrop somehow reminds me of N24's 2002-2003 backdrop. Who thinks so as well?

Having seen a few of the pilots... save judgement until you see it on screen. There's always bound to be things people like and don't like.

The titles, well they're not really extended, if anything - the opposite Wink

I'm a little bit confused on this front. Are we not going to just get the titles seen on BBC World News?

Me too. The gallery to be precise. It really looked very News 24 to me.

That reminds me of 1999 where there are separate titles for each service.

All got a little heated on the News channel just now. I was wondering if it was going to erupt into a Kay Burley v Chris Bryant match.

Go Clive!

Clive shouldve asked him how Mrs Bone was.

She got regulary name checked by Cam The Sham at PMQs at one point!

The titles are, basically:

If you watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXRa03I6TaY

The new ones look the same as that clip but the whooshing noise (0.00 - 0.01 in that video) is drawn out to fill half the titles. Then the other half of the titles is the same as 0.02 - 0.03 in that video, really cheaply copied-and-pasted. The music doesn't match the visuals. When the titles end it mixes to the newsroom camera when the synths kick in, and then mixes to a wide of the studio, and then mixes to the presenter on a wide shot slowly zooming in to a mid shot whilst also moving sideways.

It's very odd.
