Tradition has been for the moderators to create and pin a new thread 2-3 days in advance, but keep it locked until 8am London time on the launch day itself. Simultaneously, this grand lady of a thread will probably be locked.
As such, all the buzz and excitement and speculation and salivation and perspiration will probably continue in this thread until the very last moment!
I think!
March 18th is definitely the final date now. Are we expecting a countdown to NBH here on TVF?

I think so. That's what happened in the old World News thread being locked when the move started and the new one was opened which we are now using.

Wonder if he means that the big circular thingy that hangs above the newsroom - and which is directly in front of the trundle cam - will feature prominently?
Like this:
I've heard a few things from a source at the BBC, including maybe a few pictures of what to expect. When I visited last year (before the newsroom even opened) I was told that the big circle screen was meant to show the headlines, however, the "wrong" screen was ordered so instead just shows an animating graphic. IIRC there was talk of the trundle cam (Which im assuming is the robotic camera over the newsroom) to take a shot of the newsroom at the TOTH, so I'm assuming it will involve that screen
The "new BBC News Channel top-of-the-hour titles/camera sequence" is described as 'round' by @MaxPreston. Interesting!

Lightwell?
Few days ago I saw a tweet (someone retweeted it) from what I suppose is the company that made the current fake newsroom background. It said something about how now viewers will get to see the real thing and that their design was meant to be used for only 2 years top. Of course since the NBH move got delayed a lot, it had to be used for 4 years.

Truth be told, its been noodled with a few too many times since the first designs and wasn't meant to last 2 years, never mind 5.

But ours had lifts and a lighting/colour scheme inspired from a scene in LOTR Two Towers. You'll miss it when its gone.

Warm whites for the day time and then silver blues for the Ten o'clock news. The lifts are just steel, glass and light panels.

Yes, I remember everyone thinking it was unnecessary to rebrand so close to the move to NBH, when really they probably did the right thing in changing things in 2008 considering it has lasted until 2013. I think this look is quite stale now, but I imagine if they'd kept the 2007 look it would be even worse.

No, I think the main set at least is still intact. They've used a wider shot to hand over to the business presenter and the side-on shot with the Barco wall behind the presenter.
Every time I watch it there's only one angle when they are in n8 does that mean the set is getting dismantled, I remember they still had their second set when Naga signed off from N8.

Are you talking about the right part of N8 with the two plasma screens where they do the "regular" weekday BBC WN bulletins? probably they had already dismantled it, since it has no use...
