Having said that, the picture quality looks too good for Millbank - is there a studio at NBH with a set that looks similar to Millbank's?

Really? If it was Studio A I would have thought the virtual set would be more like the old set, rather than virtualising what it would like like in MB1

Am I right in thinking that The Bottom Line with Evan Davies has moved to MB1 at Millbank (Daily Politics etc studio) dressed to look like a radio studio?

Looking at this set of pictures on Flickr it looks like it used to be done in Studio 80A which is a big studio usually used for orchestras for Radio 3. Presumably moving it to Millbank saves rigging it as a TV studio every week.

I'm fairly sure they've came from that studio for a fair while, now. I certainly remember seeing that studio when I flicked past it a few weeks/months ago. I'd say it's Millbank.

Going back to the New Broadcasting House move.

A couple of things that would be great to see.

:: The filler used at weekends when going into an obscurely timed National bulletin, replaced with the BBC World News advert filler slides (the ones that show the latest business, news etc)
:: A return of some sort, to stand up presentation in part - much like this: http://youtu.be/nmzs_sLl57o
:: Bits filmed or shown live, with presenters out in the newsroom
:: During the Newspaper review, the papers being shown in a sort of Sky News way - with the presenter controlling, via a tablet PC - what we're seeing and being able to zoom in on specific stories

Just a few.

Only 2 weeks away now...

RTE News Now do that kind of news filler slides in the run up to live simulcast bulletins, and it works quite well for them. For the BBC News channel, it should really be incorporated into the countdown. That way, it wouldn't look to jarringly different from normal output.

I'd rather see a direct hand-over to the bulletin if that's possible. They could have the National presenter standing at the newswall the start the bulletin with the NC presenter still seated at the desk. Or, they could have the NC presenter at the newswall handing to the national presenter at the desk.

The problem with that is how do they ensure a clean opt for BBC One?

They did a similar thing during 1999 to around 2005, showing what was coming up on the channel. It was dropped because most of the time it just said 'BBC News'.

A solution could be the NC presenter to do the handover "Now it's time to hand over to X for the national news etc.", then maybe cut to a wide shot of the studio or the newsroom for a couple of seconds (definitely not longer than 5 secs), and then cut to the national presenter. I don't know about this tech stuff but surely that could be possible?

Well it's possible, but it would be something of an unnecessary pregnant pause. And if the NC presenter was in shot it would look rather awkward. The way they do it now is far superior. The filler countdown is faded down a few seconds early, leaving a nice clean start to the National bulletin. I don't see what's wrong with it. It's no different to how other news channels have handled opts in the past - the ITV News Channel had a filler countdown too.

Or how about they do it like this.. News at six presenter says time to get the news where you are , waits until regional news opt out and then have a wide shot of the studio and says now time for the rest of the 6 o'clock news its over to Ben Brown and the presenter is in front of the big plasma screens and does the headlines from there , and at every 30 past headlines they should do this for continuity (just my views)

And the 5 and 9 hours will not be done from the news channel studio so there can be clean openings as before.
