Anyone else find it odd/irritating the way the presenters say "you can now watch BBC News live on the web", as if it's some magical new thing? You've only been able to for what, 5/6 years?

It's odd IMO. How many years can they say "now"? As it's more than five years being available to watch on the website. They can say "you can watch BBC News live on the web" without the word "now". We all know that the service was introduced long time ago.

I reckon they will probably revise the scripts when they move to NBH.

I know BBC news has Tc7 until the end of March but surely it would be cheaper to move the the 6 to n6 until the move and close Tc7 , and then have the news channel to move to n8 at 5 and 9.30 as usual!? It wouldn't give continuity any harm because the nc and nationals are moving into a newsroom set (as you all know Smile )

And are the nationals moving next week? , the reason i think this is they are meant to be moving in on march?

There still has to be a production team to do the Six and NC regardless of which studio it comes from. Why not just keep things simple by maintaining the status quo rather than pointlessly shuffling studios? Why exactly would using N6 and N8 be cheaper than N6 and TC7?

I just assumed that TC7 would be more expensive to run , because of the size

But would the minimal cost saving be outweighed by the hassle of having to relocate? And is the BBC really bothered about saving a few pennies when half of TVC is still lit up like a Christmas tree despite the offices and studios being empty? I peered through the locked door of N9 the other week which hasn't been used for ages and it was fully lit!

No one working??? N9 will never be used again AFAIK. They lit up some places that aren't used so it will look like it's just normal.

This was the original plan but not to save money due to its size, rather to save money from the rent of TC7. But then the dates were all put back and TC7 had to be rented until March so moving would have little point.

N8 looks a bit quiet now doesn't it? The lighting also doesn't look great. Such a shame to see what was once a great hub for News 24 winding down.

I wonder what the news channel will do with its last hour/broadcast from TV centre? Plus, will the new studio be unveiled at 8:30am on the 18th or launch during the day with a proper hand over?

Would be great to see the timelapse video of the old beige era News 24 set being built or a history of BBC News special at TVC on the News channel.

When News 24 moved from N8 to N6 and became the News channel, I remember that a special bumper was used between the clips on the final News 24 TOTH that came from N8. Also, the (then) projection screens displayed a huge BBC News 24 logo.

The last broadcast of World News from N8 had Nik Gowing signing off with the cameras peddling down.

On a related note, we still haven't seen any promotion on screen about the 'New look' coming yet. How long were World News trailing 'The World's Newsroom is coming' promos?

The only thing that has been mentioned on screen - was when Simon and Carrie were in N8 because N6 was 'not in operation' - and Simon said they were homeless while they were waiting for their new studio.

I hope it just isn't a normal bulletin from N6, then all of a sudden 'presto-chango we're in NBH' without uttering a word about it!

I doubt you'll see any promotion about the move until the move date has been firmed up. They're running pilots at the moment to get all the kinks ironed out, and I'd imagine that the migration won't be set in stone until they're happy that it's all going to work.

Interesting coverage of The Pope's final audience, Notional simulcast, BBC NC running with NC branding, BBC TWO taking World feed with their graphics.
