Does anyone know if BBC Parliament will be adopting the new news style graphics? I know they aren't 'moving' as such - but it would make sense.

Whatever they do it'll no doubt take ages...in late 2002 they adopted a graphics package based on the News 24 graphics launched the previous April. These then remained through multiple BBC News relaunches until April 2009 (!) when they took the current look, based on the BBC News relaunch a year previously! It doesn't seem to be seen as a priority so it'll no doubt change at some point in the future...

Anyone else find it odd/irritating the way the presenters say "you can now watch BBC News live on the web", as if it's some magical new thing? You've only been able to for what, 5/6 years?

I must admit, that gets my goat every time. Who writes the scripts on the News Channel?! They could just do as they do on BBC World News and just say that there is more news & analysis online.

It gets me when Nicholas Owen says it because he always struggles with all the w's and then the slashes. He sounds like a bit of a technophobe!

Off topic but related. My two biggest word based annoyances are the references to "BBC iPlayer" and not "The BBC iPlayer" which to me sounds correct. BBC iPlayer is a service, not a channel. I also can't stand the use of "workers" on BBC News in place of "employee"

According to Twitter, Declan Curry's Radio 5 Live show "On the Money" an hour ago was the last radio programme to come from TVC.

Declan presents one show on the radio, and then takes his guests down to N6 to do the TV show "Show Me The Money".

Next weekend's schedules show his programme continuing on the radio, but the 2130 slot is taken by Click.

EDIT: That was the last Show Me the Money ever...

Saw the 1am bulletin this morning, however, is it the norm now for them to open with WN titles but not show the WN logo where it usually should be? Looked a bit bland without it...

As mentioned several times before, the 'box' logo is generated live in NBH, so when NC move in, programmes can simulcast, but the branded box can be that of the Channel or World at the same time!

But there was no branded box at all...

the WN box is there on World News, but not on the News Channel. For now.

It's no doubt come up in this thread before that for the overnight simulcasts, World gets the new graphics, but the NC simulcast gets the old-style Astons, thanks to some sort of electronic wizardry.

I think that bit of the script has been the same ever since it started. In any case, what Nicholas Owen may lack in W-reading speed, he makes up for in on-the-fly conversions to imperial measurements.

I don't think the lack of "the" is a problem for me - they do say "the iPlayer", but I think "the BBC iPlayer" is too long-winded.

Blimey. Even more 'Click' or am I mistaken?

It would be nice to have more variety in the weekend pre-recorded shows on the NC. Reporters airing in a daytime slot for example - which surely wouldn't cost anything? The 'best slot' it currently has is in the 6am hour of Breakfast on a Sunday

That will stop the moaners when it keeps being taken off.

Any danger of the NC & Parliament getting the same EPG control that BBC One/Two get with schedule changes.

I had to stitch together 'Yesterday's Men' & it's follow up programme on the Harold Wilson thing from 3 different SKY Plus recordings, because nothing was on time!

Doubtful. Neither of them have a real playout system, so to get proper live triggering on the EPG would require someone to spend some money, and it's not really a priority.
