I read somewhere on here that the business updates on the news channel are being scrapped , is it true?
Yes, they are.
What??? How come they have removed it? Bad move.
How can they be ditching business updates, while the economy is the BIGGEST issue we are dealing with and where Politics and Business are inextricably linked!!??!!
They'll have a dedicated business correspondent who will presumably be brought in to be interviewed to explain a business story in greater depth. Apart from that though, I guess they'll be no checks of other less important business headlines and checks on the markets and currencies. Perhaps they could take clips from World Business Report and show them on the News Channel.
I wonder if the license fee were to increase next time, they would bring the business updates back.
If Business will be ditched once NC moves to NBH, does that mean that their business newscast from then on will be Asia Business Report at 02:30am and 03:30am?

Because the licence fee has been frozen and the Beeb has to make savings equivalent to around 15-20% of its income. Business is one of the bits taking a hit.

d!!??!!
It's business presenters rather than business updates which are being scrapped. The same information will be read out by the newsreader at the time. Anyway the vast majority of the Business presenters on both Sky and the BBC aren't Business specialists in the first place.
The world didn't collapse when Sky News dumped most of their weather presenters.

Will this also affect BBC World News personalities?
I think World News will keep their business presenters as usual. Is the reduction of the business presenters on the NC due to the licence fee being frozen?

Yes it was in DQF documents as a way to reduce costs on BBC NC.
