Am I right in thinking BBC World News produce the overnights because then funding can come from that division rather than the license fee, much like BBC Four's World News Today moving over to a World News production? Or am I making this up?

I'm sure the above was stated in the Delivering Quality First documents

Surely N6 can pick up the pictures directly without going through the BBC World News gallery?

There's a lip sync issue on the NC, not sure whether that's been introduced from the trip via NBH or whether it's an issue on the feed.

Earlier, there was also a lip-sync issue on BBC WN but was been fixed by the time Pres. Obama speaks.

Interesting how the Live/Locator DOG is outside the 4:3 safe zone. Wink

All of BBC World News' graphics are right up against the 4:3 safe areas

They could for the event - but if BBC World News are producing the BBC-produced reporter/presenter-led stuff either side then that would need to come from the BBC World News gallery. You wouldn't want to try and ghost-mix that kind of show.

Also, I presume it's cheaper and more efficient to use just one crew to cover the event.

If you mean studio team - probably not - as it's unlikely they'd have stood down any News Channel staff, as you can never tell what domestic stories are going to happen.

If you mean it avoids doubling up teams in the US - yes - or probably more realistically, it avoids compromised coverage resulting from stretching reporters and presenters to serve two outlets independently.

There were multiple OBs involved, I'm not sure whether they were all being sent back to the UK independently and the BBC World gallery was mixing them together or whether either one of the OB vehicles or the BBC Washington studio was mixing it and sending the final programme back.
