Incidentally, don't RedBee do the in-vision sign language on the NC's simulcasts of certain network bulletins?

Oops, yeah, and the live subtitling (always amazed how they can speak into voice recognition software and listen at the same time) plus involvement in the iPlayer process. So, quite a few things, just not playout.

Yes, but.. there's an ISO mixer output that goes up to the signing studio; they shrink down the picture and key in the signer; and it comes back down to N6 on an OS line. It then gets routed to the News Channel output chain (often with a wee bit of a bump, as it's not quite synchronous), and the ticker goes on top.

The subtitling is a data feed which gets inserted somewhere along the way in TVC.

Seriously? ...we're speculating about a virtual christmas tree? Who cares... Bah Humbug!

The BBC Sport studio has an artificial tree next to one of the plasmas.

I'd imagine that it's a skill that you would either have to learn, or has to be innate to a certain degree. Although it would be helped by the mask that (I believe) they use so they can't hear themselves speak.

They've been using different shots this morning on the News Channel. For the main shot they've actually used the side shot instead of front shot, presumably to remove the Christmas Tree from view during the serious news items. Then in less serious news they've had a wide front shot with most of the background in view.

Also, Maxine switched to the second presenter seat at 12:15 for some reason?

EDIT: It's because she's presenting Dateline London today, and the presenter for that sits in the second presenter seat.

Has Newswatch been on at any point this weekend so far?

Obviously it was missing from it's 845 Friday & 345am Saturday slots due to the breaking news, but did it manage a 'Breakfast' transmission?

(It won't appear on Iplayer without a transmission will it?)

They'll probably be re-recording it to fit in the shooting coverage.

Thats a first.

The NC apologising for not showing a programme!

Im sure I could think of other instances where they should have done.

Do they normally apologise for the lack of Click?

It's because the news was on later than expected, it was supposed to finish at 10:30pm but started at that time instead. I'm sure it has happened in the past.

10 days later

Currently cannot check, has the NC broken down?
