Just watched it back on the IPlayer - looked a bit unprofessional! Looked to me like a pre-recorded forecast and they started it a few seconds late.

More likely they played out a forecast that was too long, I would have thought.

It was 'Weatherview' so a longer forecast for sure and it did appear recorded. I think whoever was timing the end of the 10 o'clock news hour lost count. We went to a paper review at 22:55 which seemed a bit late in the hour in the first place, then at almost 22:59 went to the weather which then failed to play so Chris ad libbed for 20 secs or so. I could tell it was going to over run but was just expecting what Rob said a few posts back that the weather would finish and we'd go straight to Chris for the 23:00 headlines. Just seemed a little odd to cut away from the weather like that. It would have made more sense to just not bother with the weather at all.

Indeed, don't get your hopes up the music is pretty much the same. Biggest change is the countdown which is not to dissimilar to the 'Euphoric Close' mix used at the end Olympics.

I think we all know they are sticking with David Lowe as he himself has confirmed this. Looking forward to it though. David has said that it has been tweaked quite noticably but also will sound fimilar. Sounds interesting.

Never mind 'underwhelmed' it's a pile of crap re-edit of the 2005 countdown with some crappy string synths plonked on top.

DO NOT WANT

Its as if David Lowe is now just phoning it in... if he cant be bothered I'd rather have completely new music.

How many times must we go through this? The BBC dictate what they want, hence why we got the pretty bland 2008 sounds - the beeb called for a "back to basics" sound. The Hub, GMT and World News Today are perfect examples of more recent work by Lowe which prove he still has lots of ideas - he's just not able to exercise them.

David Lowe's original idea was changed because the BBC didn't like it. The BBC have a lot of say in the matter.

And don't want to embrace any type of change?
