The screensaver back in the day used to be the original 1999 BBC1 titles. Used to be available to download on the forum

We had an overhead wide shot of the N6 desk tonight for the papers review.

They have a rather funky screensaver on the presenter 2 monitor with BBC WORLD SERVICE, BBC WORLD NEWS, BBC WALES, BBC SCOTLAND, BBC SPORT, BBC NEWS flying out at you - much like the old Microsoft flying windows screensaver.

Yes that's the BBC Family screensaver, I don't think it has World News, I think it's just 'BBC WORLD' still, it also flies through the nations as well and then fades to a BBC logo, it was launched in 1998.

Interesting wide shot used outside broadcasting house at 12pm. It looked like the had a camera pointing out of a window looking down at Simon McCoy.

Just now we had Simon McCoy passing over to a guest in the N6 studio on location at NBH. Would this be the first 'interview' from Television Centre being handed over to from New BH on the NC?

Edit. It looks like the TOTH wide shot from outside New Broadcasting House seems to be a camera placed on top of the satellite truck. Sky News just had one of their reporters slightly in front of where Simon McCoy is, and you could just about make it out.

It's also interesting to see the 2 ways between NBH and television centre. With N6 being live/located as 'West London'.

I suppose it's worked out quite well (if you could call it that) that domestic news/News channel aren't moving to NBH until next year.

Imagine if they were scheduled to move in to NBH (as World apparently are) later this month, with all this 'media gunf' going on about Newsnight, George Entwistle and the News department. You could just imagine the reaction they'd get or be met with if they appeared in a new multi-million pound building and studio seemingly overnight?

That would surely get some heads turning (who aren't in the media know as we are).

And they've got odd chairs again.

Nick Owen using the blue chair to do the Five. Kate Silverton used the same chair on the One earlier. Weird because last Thursday when the channel was using odd chairs they kept the grey one for the One & the Five. I'd have thought they'd use the black one for the One & the Five today.

Dragon's Den would blow your mind.

How did you know? All those on Dragon's Den are using different chairs tonight.

Does this mean that Simon McCoy presented the first ever News channel bulletins from NBH?

I don't think broadcasting from outside broadcasting house counts... even if it does, i'm pretty sure Ben Geoghegen was reporting from outside BH before Sunday.

Don't usually watch the channel but just flicking through...

...do they always use such ugly camera angles when interviewing a studio guest?

Do they normally just cut the weather off on the news channel when it over runs the top of the hour? It just faded to Chris in the studio who started reading the headlines at 23:00. Bit shoddy directing & timing to say the least!

Can't say I've ever seen that before, David. Normally if the weather overruns they just drop the countdown and go straight into the headlines - but they usually let the weather finish properly!

Just watched it back on the IPlayer - looked a bit unprofessional! Looked to me like a pre-recorded forecast and they started it a few seconds late.

Meh... who needs weather forecasts anyway... just go outside and if you're slightly damp when you return indoors... that's the weather, for now.
