Can't imagine BBC News with voiceover, wouldn't fit imo.

You must have a short memory then! Was perfectly normal on the One, Six and Nine O'Clock News until the beige/red relaunch in 1998/1999ish.

Pres would introduce the News generically, then there would be a presenter intro voice over during the opening of the programme.

"The Six O'clock News from the BBC. With Sue Lawley and Nicholas Witchell".

"The Nine O'clock News from the BBC. With Julia Somerville and Philip Hayton".

It was actually rather radical for the BBC at the time. It brought a certain air of authority to the bulletins, perfectly complementing the rather fantastic orchestral music of the time.

If I'm not mistaken, it was Jan Leeming's then husband, Patrick Lunt, who provided the BBC News voice overs in the 80's.

The announcement from pres was as generic as they get - "This is BBC1".

Is it me or is the main camera slightly more zoomed in on the NC today? The presenters seem bigger on screen.

And they've got odd chairs again.

Nick Owen using the blue chair to do the Five. Kate Silverton used the same chair on the One earlier. Weird because last Thursday when the channel was using odd chairs they kept the grey one for the One & the Five. I'd have thought they'd use the black one for the One & the Five today.

THIS IS MIND-NUMBINGLY TEDIOUS. WHOSE CHAIR IS USED OR WHATEVER IS NOT IMPORTANT AND IN NO WAY CONSTITUTES TV PRESENTATION TALK UNLESS IT'S ABOUT SET DRESSING.

Please.

Indeed. This is a presentation thread for starters. Chair talk is very much off topic and doesn't really contribute to good discussion on the site.

Happy 15th Birthday BBC News (24) Channel! This also means that its been nearly 15 years since the completion of 'Stage 6' of BBC Television Centre. Hard to imagine back then that TVC would almost become a ghost town 15 years later!

We had an overhead wide shot of the N6 desk tonight for the papers review.

They have a rather funky screensaver on the presenter 2 monitor with BBC WORLD SERVICE, BBC WORLD NEWS, BBC WALES, BBC SCOTLAND, BBC SPORT, BBC NEWS flying out at you - much like the old Microsoft flying windows screensaver.

Been around for ages. Seen it at least a few years ago now.
