Apologies if this has already been mentioned (although I've not spotted anything), but couldn't help noticing this rather different looking BBC News strap on yesterday's Andrew Marr Show...

Wondering if this could be a taste of the future?

They are the new lower thirds. for W1. Important to mention they're still in a little bit of development.

I don't think that full red bar is needed for the national bulletins and the BBC News logo looks a bit off. Still, I prefer them to what we have now.

I agree with this! It's mainly the logo which looks too weird on the thin red bar for me!

I like it, but the BBC logo and "News" are too far apart.

I didn't see them live myself, but it did look a little unpolished in that cap. It's still an improvement.

The animation is quite nice. I like it when things go in different directions at the same time! #easilypleased

I would imagine that the red bar would contain the clock and ticker on the news channel. The full stretch astons seem to be a semi revert to the last of the News 24 days look.

Woah major problems with the 6:58pm forecast on the news channel. Peter Gibbs kept disappearing and got the fit of giggles. I'll put a cap up in a minute or two...

Here it is again... 2:12 is when he breaks down in laughter with the giggles.

Poor old Peter Gibbs not having much luck this evening, just as they threw to the weather at 19:30 - they had to a press conference (although a very serious one).

Very funny and handled perfectly well I thought.

Haven't seen the NC use the News In Brief segment for smaller stories for a while (example of what I mean is in the clip below at 3 mins 26 secs in). Has it been dropped? As evidenced in the clip below, they still use it on World News.
