Why do they keep adding more plasmas? In a few months you won't even be able to see the newsroom.

They put the middle plasma in for the Saturday 18:30 edition where they have two presenters - they tried quite a few different layouts of doing it but settled on the one they use now, which does indeed look better.

If the awful burned out plasma (which should have gone in the bin a long time ago) was thrown in the bin, then i think it wouldnt be as obvious... or just a background graphic on the two 'surplus' side screens that probably dont get used during this edition.

...also why the hell do they need two presenters? Its sports news and hardly going to be "Breaking" at that time of day. ::facepalm::

Why they keep insisting on wheeling ion that screen burned plasma is anyone's guess, it looks dreadful on screen!

I think they do it just to annoy you!

It looks fine and unless the picture is quite white, you'd be hard pressed to see the screen burn. Not suitable for constant use as it was in the past, but as a screen used purely for that camera angle on a Saturday evening it's fine, not really worth forking out for another new screen just for that!

Imagine if someone were to decide that a wall of screens should be a backdrop - he'd be complaining about the cracks!

I noticed towards the end of the 'Scottish Six' when Clive Myrie handed over to Chris Fawkes for the weather that the lighting bars at the top of N6 were blue instead of red, yet at the start of the bulletin they were lit red.

Interestingly, the second 'screen burned' plasma now sits in the Quay House canteen! Laughing

It's almost like they can change colour with a click of a button.

Whoops! Someone left Susan Downes microphone up at the start of the 6:30 sports day before the titles ran. Bit of an interesting talkback going on. Hope someone recorded it!

And occasionally it is used if memory serves for Football Focus's Friday edition if they are in the smaller second set on the BBC Red Button feed of the programme.
