Bu-bu-but you can see the joins!

that's very true, but if they had a Midlands Today style new set you'd not see any joins! Long pieces of perspex were the order of the day!

Eh? The Midlands Today TV joins are far more obvious.

No they're not? I can't see any lines between the lightboxes below or above the screens there

I think it looked quite good without the lower lightboxes on - suits night-time bulletins.

Maybe the air conditioning had failed and they were trying to reduce the temperature in the studio. Just a thought but probably wrong!

Yeah, I imagine conditions are almost deep space-like now they've switched that strip of lighting off.

I think Critique means joins between the screens, which are quite huge on the Midlands Today set. The one seemingly over a pillar to the right of Nick's head for example.

No, I was referring to the joins in the strips below the BARCOs that isn't lit. You could clearly see the joins in the material in BBC One last night. I wasn't talking about the BARCOs!

Fair enough! I don't think they're all that noticeable. Seems dosxuk got just as confused as me! Smile

Looks like they are going to start showing ABC World News with Diane Sawyer on the BBC News Channel at 01:30 Tue - Fri, just spotted it on the EPG now.

Didn't they used to show ABC news at this time before? I'm sure I remember seeing it several years ago.

Very happy to see this programme back. It started a few minutes ago on the News Channel.

I remember it stopped following the introduction of Newsday and bottom of the hour programmes Asia Business Report and Sport Today on the simulcast. I could be wrong.

I think you could be right, but that was with the old time slot.

The only reason I can think that they might have brought it back is that is saves having Babita around for an extra half an hour to give a roundup of the headlines at 01:45 after Asia Business Report.

Has the BBC News channel had a new 'desk top' on their main desk?

Previosuly when they have used the overhead camera shot for the papers, you used to see no end of dirty ink marks, smodges and part of the laquer peeling off near the presenter 2 position. Looking at it tonight - its spotless.

One would asume the outer white/grey ring has been swapped or replaced (maybe they swapped it over from the one in N9 that doesn't get used very often)?.

BTW, found this old article by chance and made my day: http://news.bbc.co.uk/newswatch/ifs/hi/newsid_6050000/newsid_6054800/6054840.stm Wink

My favourite quote:

Quote:
"The reason why people stand up is because we have these amazing big screens now that we can put a lot of pictorial or factual information on for the viewer and quite often that's why we're standing up.

"I'm always open to ideas, but we have them both standing because generally the presenters are seen together. "
