Why are on earth are they using a massive box to display the information and then all that's in that massive box is a London 2012 logo in tiny writing.
I would have thought there would have been a much pleasing way for it appear.
Until BBC News becomes available in HD with HD-scaled graphics, everything will look too big.

That doesn't mean that there has to be a large box that doesn't need to be there. As others have said the medal count could fit quite neatly above the BBC News logo without that unneccessary and pointless London 2012 text.

I didn't say it does, although it would be pretty useless every time an aston came up...

What's to stop it sliding up as the aston animates on anyway? Given the new HD astons will animate up slightly then across...
I've noticed that the Olympic TOTH countdowns have been updated showing some new clips, including some of the British athletes (Jessica Ennis, Mo Farrah, Joe Rutherford, our rowers etc) winning their medals and some new clips of the stadium lit up.

They also seem to have 3 or 4 different versions now, as opposed to before when they only had 2 (a day version and a night version).
They seem to be playing the filler more and more during this Olympic period - usually at 9am after Breakfast, and before the 1, 6 and 10 BBC1 simulcasts. They never usually do this - normally we see the number countdown when linking into the main simulcast BBC1 bulletins during the week.

That's because there is very complex switching going on between galleries to get News Channel in and out of circuit.
It's also because the bullies follow LIVE BBC1 Programming - and the start of the programmes have been delayed by up to 10 seconds in some cases.
The loop is played out from TC4.
Think the NC was taking live sport simulcasting a bit too far this morning - the 4x400m relay heat involving Great Britain, which weren't even deemed important enough for BBC1 (which went to a pre-recorded package instead). A final I suppose can be argued as an important live news event, but a relay heat?
We have no idea if the HD feed of the news broadcasts will use separate HD graphics. If they are designed for both they will be larger than needed in HD.
Also do we know if there will be a BBC News Channel HD launched?
