Tut tut, look at all the cables at the rear of the desk in that photo Rolling Eyes

At least the new set has a rubber cable-tidy on the floor!!

I suspect those press photos were taken while the set was still being built, as the newsroom doesn't look quite finished, which explains it looking a little more messy than it looked on screen.

I am in awe... There is noise from the newsroom, the animations are so sleek and seemless. The straps arent large, yet get the point across. The globe in the Dog animates, the studio is georgeous.

Whatever about being contradictory or changing opinions over 5 years, there was a pretty solid consensus at the time that the set was a damn good change over the previous yoke. And I'd say that even today when properly lit the underlighting in the table and around the pedestal still looked great.

I must have been happy for the newness, but it soon wore off. Coming from the set before, it was good for a change.

IIRC when those press photos were taken the newsroom in the background is fake and was imposed on the photos as like you say the real one was not finished being decorated with plasma's and red stuff.. Think those photos were also released about 3 weeks prior to launch too.

I don't know why or how you could think thatset is so bad, and the worst one they've ever had. I still think it's the best.

Does anyone know - noggin perhaps? - whether the LIVE location bug is produced by VizRT (or whatever it's called), or the old graphics system?

It seems to be the only bit that doesn't quite work. All the rest fits together really nicely, but the red LIVE bug doesn't quite fit the black location bug.

I thought first of all that perhaps the VizRT was just lower thirds, but occasionally there's a white bug - library pictures and the like - that looks like it's done by VizRT by the way it animates.

The live and location bugs are - I believe - still produced by separate boxes - as they need to cut on and off independently of the VizRT ticker/clock/dog/lower third combos.

Whether the live and location are generated from two bits of kit - (so the live can be recorded without "Live" burned in but with the location burned in)

Yep - it is only the location and live bug that cut on and off dynamically on vision mixer cuts, whilst the rest of the graphics remain on-screen, that need to be generated separately.

So can't they get VizRT to do the LIVE and location graphics? It looks a mess, letting the rest down, at the moment.

I don't see your problem with it? Apart from the fact it doesn't look as good as the old one and badly aligned.

Why can't they get it to line up though? It can't be difficult. Surely you tell the machine how many pixels high you want the bug. If it doesn't line up, remove a line of pixels.

Did you read Noggin's post? I think it's quite obvious why they don't.
