A shame they didn't keep put off the World simulcast for a bit, the problem now is that they can only show stills of the Opening Ceremony for the first half hour because there's no rights to the footage on BBC World

Is this an official highlights sequence, or have we gone to UK only?

I'm not sure, but World should be able to show some video of the ceremony within the next half hour.

Only a minute's worth though I think

And we have some video clips of the ceremony at last! Smile

Was it the same about 45-60 second highlights as shown at the 0130 BOTH? In case I didn't make it clear, they were video.

The half past sting hasn't been used on the NC for the last couple of hours!

E.g. The weather finished with Matt Taylor and handed straight over to Annita for the headlines without the sting

No Olympic BBC News countdown at 4am... just the general one. An error, or have they removed the Olympic ones already?

The Olympic countdown was played at 9am, so maybe just an error.

Robert Hall doing a live back to the studio from Oxford Circus tube station, standing on the platform to the amazement of Ben Brown. Is this a first on the News channel?

Ben Brown said it was a broadcasting first, but I do believe Sky News did something similar last Friday.

One small thing about the desk in the NC Olympic studio, the grey-top trim is definitely made of metal as Ben Brown just seemed to clout his knee on it and you could hear it was a metal trim.

Write that down in your copybook now.

Sky did a live from a Jubilee line train once it was overground with Ian Woods. The NC live was probably done using the new free wi-fi connection that has been installed across tube stations in time for the Olympics.
