I'd assume that if the Cauldron needs extending or even erecting, the BBC Backdrop angles will change later today. There's currently nothing looking prominent enough to be it visible from the BBC News positions.

The architect and designers have claimed that they were approached, but didn't accept as the design was too far progressed by that point to integrate the flame.

I know where I'd put the flame...

Not sure how this happened - The live coverage on the Opening Ceremony Build Up live stream is currently showing a feed of one of the Olympic studios with various people wandering around with ladders and such like
