Is that because BBC One HD and SD are now just from one playout suite (with the SD just being a down-convert) or am I making up/imagining things?

Be interesting to see if they just crash out at the end.

Yep, it was a bit of a crash, although they finished the segment, then there was less than a second of the presenter headshot before they went crashing.

Are the BBC having trouble with their SCAR system today where it's already on overload. Just seen a second live OB go down today with a SCAR fault caption come up and switch to a different OB site, seemingly of its own accord.

On another note, Chris Eakin just aston'd as 'News correspondent'. Normally they just use the presenters name and location on the Aston if they're a presenter on location.

I assume it's because Chris is being used in a reporter role, rather than a presenter one. Clive Myrie was reporting at the Olympic Park this morning and was astoned simply as 'Correspondent'.

Chris Eakin and his team covering the Olympic bits and pieces in Dorset, now reporting live from the scene of the landslide. Talk about being in the right place at the wrong time.

Made sense, they were only 30mins or so down the road.

Why are the male newsreaders being forced to wear a suit and tie in that glass box at the Olympic park? Yesterday they were all tieless and looked a damn sight better and more comfortable for it. Poor Tim Willcox has sweat dripping off him.

SCAR is the control centre for all the news feeds coming in and out of TVC.

Also I agree it looked better yesterday in shirts and no ties. Especially given the apparent heat in that studio it seems petty to make them dress up just to keep complaints to newswatch from flooding in.

Can guarantee if it were the females being forced to do it, there would be complaints of sexism, discrimination etc...
