I think it's the same studio, they just changed the chairs.

Yep - and looks like the table and desk are the same bit of set - with a variable height top? When in 'desk' mode you can see that the extra bit of height comes from a bit that could sit back down inside the central column. (Bit like a camera ped)

I'm pretty sure that Matt Taylor was standing in a second unit when the camera panned from Sophie for the weather at 1:30.

It's an apartment building, not sure which one though.

I hope they do something to cover the bare wood on the platform at the side of the NC's Olympic studio. It was used earlier today to present the weather forecast, but looks rather unfinished in the wideshots for the bulletins.

That's going to be an amazing night time view by the time we get to the 10 broadcasts.

Nice to see the adjustable height desk design getting a trial prior to use in NBH's Studio B.

I'm interested to see what'll happen around 8pm when the sun will be shining right into the studios Smile

Is there any reason why BBC World News have gone to a little more effort having some Olympic based titles and broadcasting from the Olympic Park-side studio for the whole day, whereas the domestic news channel seems to be chopping and changing from N6 and their Olympic studio? I would have thought with the amount of people coming to the UK who will watch the BBC News channel in the various apartment complexes, it would make sense to do a World News type thing?

Maybe though, they may do this nearer to Friday?

Also, will World News which is simulcast with the NC overnight come from N8 or the Parkside studio?

Still not sorted out the dreadful sound from the glass studio - you can really hear the echos to George's voice on the Six. As for Sophie Raworth's report, that was a pre-recorded segment and it was even worse.

Maybe the addition of a sofa, as used in the BBC World News/BBC London studio would help absorb some of the echo? Just a thought. I notice that World weren't having the same problem, then again its based in a different building.

Some of those 'effects' that Sophie was doing were truly dreadful - the worst one being when she 'dragged' that graph along, it was that badly done that she was stood behind the graph at the end! I don't expect that level of tackiness from Sky News, never mind the BBC!

If you're wondering what I mean - follow this link and go to 18:22.

I am a fan of the studio though - looks nice, although I think a plasma screen wouldn't have gone amiss when doing lives between presenters and on-location reporters.

I take it then, that with the 10 coming from the Olympic studio, the NC won't have to decamp to N8 at 9:30?

An insight behind the scenes of the BBC News at Six with Fiona Bruce. She outlines what she does as a news presenter and how she prepares to go on air:

EastEnders just made an appearance on the BBC News Channel. Quite surprised they didn't stick with it for the giving birth scene from Lola. Wink
