Not Strictly to do with the News Channel but will BBC Weather be getting a Refresh when they move to Broadcasting House?

NC concentrating on the England v Italy penalties, as there's nothing else they can do, now that the simulcast is delayed.

I hate to go off topic, but I think this is the best place to put this ask.

I once found a video on youtube that had a montage of all the BBC News themes (some including, intros, exits, vamps and stings) from about 1993 - 2001, but I can't find it anywhere now. It had no moving images so was obviously someone posting a montage of the original audio.

The reason I am after it is because it is the best quality capture of the orchestral version of the theme from the virtual reality era and I just love it!

I would be so grateful if someone could point me to it.

Hello there!

I think I remember the one you're referring to. I also tried to find it recently. If it helps, I think the user name who uploaded it was something like "Moshabee" or "Moshbee", or something like that.

Ah, that orchestral outing.........lovely!

Good luck!

They could have spent time covering Egypt or other news. If people wanted football they would be watching BBC1. Turned to AJE instead...

I think you are right, that rings a bell. Unfortunately he seems to have taken it down and doesn't look amenable to a personal plea! I wish I had captured it when I had the chance Sad

At least I know to stop searching now.

Wow! I knew there was a reason why I stopped lurking and started posting! It is a shame that the conversion to WMV has lost some of the audio quality, but I'm hard to please Wink

a) These themes were the soundtrack to my childhood
b) The Six O'clock main headline vamp has the sound of seriousness and authority that I don't think has ever been surpassed, makes me all goose pimply when I think of all of the world changing headlines that have been spoken over it.
c) Great to hear how the Breakfast theme has evolved, you can still hear some of it in the current theme. Although I love the modern versions of the whole brand, it's a shame that the other news tunes can't be traced back.

Thank you so much! I am forever in your debt Very Happy

Edit: Also, reminds me how naff the original News24 tunes were Wink

Seconded. Many thanks also from me.

You're right about the Breakfast News theme. It was also incredibly good.

Interesting to hear all the 6 o clock vamps in there. The six vamps were always missing form the classic selections of MP3s that used to float around in 2001-2003
