Has the actual 'body' of the text, when a Breaking News story is being detailed in a strap, always been red? I saw it today, and it looked decidely off, although that may just have been the overscan on that particular TV that made the image look odd.

Yes, ever since the 2008 relaunch it's always been red, with white text running across it. A very clear, crisp look in my opinion, if not a bit on the dull side compared to the 2007 look.

Ooh, what I saw was something like this quick mockup):

Which, IMO, looks quite odd, and not very nice, which is why I queried it. It isn't what you describe, and what you can see on TV Live, with a red backing and white text.

Yes I prefer the Breaking News strap (the normal one, not the unusual one above) to the normal strap, particularly with the nice subtle animation.

Haha, are you sure it wasn't the 'Latest News' strap that you saw:

Probably just a mistake - I think the producer who is in charge of the straps can change their format at the touch of a button iirc.

That's what it was - latest news, not breaking news!

It looked odd, IMO, anyway, but it was 'Latest News', not 'Breaking News'.

Is the News Channel simulcasting with BBC World this hour? 5pm Friday? Lyse Doucet has mentioned BBC News on more rhan one occasion, as opposed to BBC World News.

I've got Gavin at the moment, unless she's simulcasting on location for the top story?

So it's the BBC News at 6+1 tonight then because of the football. Wonder if the NC will still take the 6 at 7?

Any number of reasons! It's not normal circumstances so I was just pointing out that they may or may not take the 6!
