Do you mean verbally or on-screen text? If the later, I think just brackets would be best.

On-screen text. Yeah, I guess that would also be an easier solution.

Agreed, that looks a little informal. I think brackets are quite standard, certainly on BBC News online.

And a bit patronising

I didn't think it was patronising, just a bit informal.

BBC wheels out Paul Gambaccini

What about when he dies? Perhaps they should pre-record the interview with Paul Gambaccini about the death of Paul Gambaccini now.

To be fair it was the same in the 80s and early 90s where death of a comedian or LE performer would prompt them to wheel out Ernie Wise for a tribute

They can just cut and paste his previous interviews; they're all the same.

"Yes...It's a sad day... he/she died too young.... unfulfilled talent.... I knew him/her well..... Seminal works of music.... Respected across the world..... "

On BBC Parliament, Not the best place to put it, but just for the record the LIVE bug been on screen during a pre recorded programme and now into The Record for at least 20mins.

I see they've added frosting to the BBC Sport news set windows. Listening to us!

Are you sure? Amelia Harris was using the secondary set on BBC World just then, which has frosting. Perhaps NC was using the secondary set as well? The two studios do look identical in the presenter and presenter+screen shots.

I don't think I'd like any frosting in the main set. It would make it feel very claustrophobic and would put to waste the screens and atmosphere of the newsroom we see behind. The wide shots showing the pillars and the newsroom do look very nice. I don't find the transparency to be in any way distracting. Frosting would just make it overly dark and just boring.

Oh maybe it is the secondary set then. There was no wide shot at the beginning so it was hard to tell.

I think frosting is needed. The newsroom looks dark without frosting, and rather than boring, it is distracting.

Been noticing that for a long time - a lot of the time at weekends and occasionally during weekdays, they use a different version of the backdrop in N6 that has a blue tint and is more frosted. Makes me wonder, why is it an option in the first place and why don't they stick to one of them? There's also a night version of the backdrop but it's very rarely used.

Today for example with the different backdrop:
