The BBC Sport studio seems to have an extra plasma screen now, there also seems to be some frosting behind them too - looks a bit like what we're expecting to see for the News channel in BH.

Your ability to completely ignore all criticism - Tumble Tower style - is admirable.

did I say admirable? I meant cretinous. Sorry for any confusion.

Some Areca plants would look *lovely* on that set to fill the space up a bit. Or even a few scatter cushions! Well it seemed to work for GMTV and Daybreak..... Laughing

Am I the only one who still thinks that set/studio/newsroom is so dark, drab and dreary? I don't get what all the fuss is about. It really needs an injection of both light and colour in my opinion.

The lens distortion on that wide shot is pretty severe - note the angles of the pillars and plasma screens - presumably to make it look bigger.

Agreed, I think it's a result of the designers (was this also designed by BDA/Jago?) just focusing on the set rather than the surrounding newsroom. But when the set essentially is the newsroom, changes need to be made in order for it to work well on screen. At the very least, the big grey wall seen in the background needs to have some sort of lighting element affixed to it to brighten the space up. Coloured uplighting of the pillars wouldn't go amiss, either.

Red Bee designed the Sport News set, and BDA designed the Breakfast/NWT studio.

I know this is rather minor and I don't normally complain about things like these, but does it not seem a bit unprofessional to put "Firm valued at $104bn, that's £66bn". Wouldn't something like "Firm valued at $104bn, equal to £66bn" be a better way to put it?

Do you mean verbally or on-screen text? If the later, I think just brackets would be best.

On-screen text. Yeah, I guess that would also be an easier solution.

Agreed, that looks a little informal. I think brackets are quite standard, certainly on BBC News online.

I agree with this observation.
