Happened at the launch of News 24. Supposed to be a more relaxed look, but sometime between the launch and the 1999 relaunch jackets returned.

I think it's much more difficult to women to get their dress right, not just news presenters.. Men can't go wrong with a suit.

There was an occasion a couple of months ago when Peter Dobbie went on BBC World just wearing a shirt and waistcoat. I think someone uploaded a picture up on to here of it, so it does still happen occasionally!

I agree with what you say, it does look much better.

As for Maxine, she is always one of the better dressed presenters, alongside Julia Somerville and Jane Hill... some of the other female presenters could do well in taking their lead. Some of the presenters (Anita McVeigh and Martine Croxall being two of the worst offenders) don't even wear a jacket half the time, it just looks sloppy.

In other news... Wink I notice that someone's put the wrong daytime backdrop up again today (the totally grey one without the blue on). Why not just delete the old one so the problem doesn't keep occuring.


Male/female dress code issues aren't exclusive to either BBC News or Sky News. It happens throughout business.

The Barco's just went into space during the News at 5. Wink

Also the Business News at the far Barco wall was done, seemingly with a hand held camera.
