You make it sound like they do it on purpose Rolling Eyes

Have you never used a piece of equipment and it's done something you've not expected? These things happen, especially with kit which is running for 24 hours with limited opportunities for maintainence. The fact that they have such few problems (remember the reliability when we had TOG?) I find quite amazing, but maybe that's because I understand what the kit can do (when it works and when it really goes wrong), and the pressures of working in a live gallery.

Yeah but it still goes tits up a hell of a lot more times than Sky News' graphics do.

Also, today we had the BBC News at 6.05, so had 5 minutes of News Channel before the National News, with the same presenter but a completely different running order. To anyone watching on the 24 hour channel it just looked pathetic and the first 5 minutes were almost apologetic.

Really, what they should do in that sort of happenstance is extend the 5:30 half-hour to 35 minutes. If there's a pre-recorded program, start it at 5:40ish rather than 5:35ish. If it's live news, just play out another report, extend the weather forecast, run a 60s countdown and if all else fails, read out a few more e-mails from the "What d'you reckon?" pile.

Yes, they have.

The countdown numbers are now in a place where they don't clash with the ticker.

Does BBC One always do this?

I thought they only show the BBC News 24 opening?
I saw a video once on YouTube, but had been deleted... ugh.

It has been done before but i think it's only done if they are joining in at the top of the hour.

Out of interest, is there any reason why the BBC News channel doesn't retain its DOG, clock and ticker during the Breakfast simulcast?

Surely now the graphics all match up, there's no reason why BBC One can't keep the orange clock and ticker-free look, whilst the news channel has its standard ticker, etc. overlayed on top.

If they're so keen on stamping the BBC News brand everywhere, isn't it a bit daft to remove it from the flagship channel for two and a half hours every morning?

In relation to Weekend News channel, I can't see why they couldn't have a World News bulletin on the NC in the half hour that BBC One need N6 for a bulletin. For example, say BBC One have a bulletin sometime between 6:01 and 6:30, The News channel goes to BBC World at the TOTH from 6:00 and stays with it while BBC One use N6 for their bulletin. Once BBC One are finished, The NC can return to N6 at 6:30

TOTH @ 3pm

Full countdown, starting at 55:25. They even held the opening frame, frozen on screen for around 5 seconds, before the countdown started. Of course, the countdowns now start with numbers in vision starting at 55:25, as opposed to the previous 59:25, as the last 5 seconds after 00:00 are of the BBC News ident.

There is no frame labelled 55:25... There are 25 fps, labelled 0 to 24.

I loved the few days of super super fast spinning tower.
