Aston has now been subsumed into that Brainstorm company now, and it seems (like the poster above) to have radically changed the way it works. I'd be very surprised if the BBC chose to fit out regional news with Brainstorm stuff. If you look at their showreel they seem to focus on complex virtual studios and I'm sure they'll be wanting to streamline their graphics output through one format. Having said that, it is the BBC, so who knows!
I've noticed tonight that the main plasma screen in the BBC Sport Centre is starting to suffer with burn in. The BBC Sport logo seems to be burning in. Not visible on every image, but very noticeable on a few.

I thought modern screens were meant to be fairly burn-proof these days? Or is that just LCD variants?

Even LCDs can have some level of image retention. If the logo is left on when the studio is not in use, it's bound to burn in.
The bank holiday late news ended the same way as the six last night; the presenter says 'good night' and then you get the BBc New bumper followed by another presenter following on.
Surely they could do this after the 10, and not go rapidly throught the papers and say that going to do it properly in 15 minutes' time.
Would look much slicker and seem more natural as the news at ten presenter wouldn't have to pretend that they are on their own until there is a widescreen shot.
