I switched my TV on around 4pm (can't be any more specific than that, though) and Jon Sopel broke the news, including mentioning the possibility of it being the said actress. So, they were a lot earlier than Sky News if they only broke it at 4.45pm. It was definitely on the BBC before 4.30pm.

Just switched on the NC to an interview with Andy Burnham MP on CSO. Very poorly lit and framed - most of his hair was off screen. Very odd.

It's that terrible CSO they use - many people end up with green halos around them which looks especially awful on the night backdrop. There was one person I saw who's combover had a green section between the head and hair Laughing

More problems already in the 2 o'clock hour today. Joanna Gosling's autocue seemed have a complete wobbly and had to cross to an O/B quite quickly.

Edit: at 14:15, the same thing happened to Jon Sopel.

The 2pm blues that affected yesterdays hour of News channel seem to be back again today!

I noticed this morning that Carole Walker was sat in a different chair to usual - it's green and has a different shape. Martine on the previous shift and Sue in the shift after were sat in the normal chair.

Surely she's not picky enough to drag a different chair into the studio just for her?

^^^ She seems like a diva so I wouldn't be surprised. Cool

Which reminded me of great Nisha Pillai and her famous pillow on World, clearly for medical reasons. She is very much missed.

I wouldn't go as far as saying "medical reasons", but perhaps she did a DSE assessment with the standard chair and found it uncomfortable, so has exercised her right to use an alternative.

I have to say, having sat in that particular chair at the time, it wasn't particularly comfortable.

It looks like the straps and other graphics are being done in London because they look/animate different to the ones produced in Salford, unless their graphics have been upgraded or something?

Why can't both look the same?

Slightly different viz engine means slightly different kerning and x-height on the straps - it's possibly even a slightly different cut of Gill Sans.

Can that be rectified? Also the problem with the change of the lower text on the strap means the whole strap animates off and on again is particularly irritating. It all makes for a slight lack of consistency, if only for forumers like us!
