Amelia Harris will deliver the last London based Sports Bulletin on the BBC News Channel tonight at 11:15pm UK time. End of an era. Salford tomorrow!

So will Sport Today be broadcast from Salford at 1:45am UKT on monday then?

I think it has been stated that the first appearance will be at 0845 for NC viewers. Don't know about World viewers.

Sounds like it's all change tomorrow for BBC Sport updates on the News Channel as they move to the Salford studios. I assume Breakfast Sport will remain in London until Breakfast moves there soon?

Weekday Breakfast sport will come from London but weekends will be from Salford from next Saturday.

Olly Foster will be the first man on the new set tomorrow at 8.45am. Matt Gooderick has also said on Twitter that he won't be moving to Salford.

Interesting nugget of info! Of course not long until Breakfast join Mike and the anonymous weekday Sports presenter on Breakfast (I wish they would announce him/her soon!)

Will there be lots of two-way split screens I wonder so as not to lose the occasional banter between NC presenter(s) and Sports presenter?

Yes. Confirmed by Chris Cook (6 and 10 lead director) on Twitter.

So, this evenings National Bulletin sports slots on BBC1 will also be the last ever from London as well.

So, it's Amelia on the News Channel tonight, and Karthi Gnanasegaram on BBC1.

Karthi doing the Sport on a BBC1 bulletin? Is this a first?

No - TC7 was actually controlling the main News Channel Viz engine - thats 'Viz 81' if anyone is particularly interested!

Do you happen to know {or can you shed any light on} the reason for the difference between the fonts on regional and national astons as previously mentioned in this thread? Had always presumed it was a technical reason behind it but it appears to be a deliberate design decision.

ok - lets try....

The Locators (top left) are generated in N6 by Big Ted 3 - which controls an Aston Motif machine.
The poster talking about why a BBC London strap appeared over Danny Savage is simply that someone transmitted a 2 line aston instead of the Locator - and then quickly recued the locator.
Most BBC regions generate their lower thirds with Aston Motif (or similar) machines, controlled by Big Ted - just like the morning summaries on BBC1 from the clip studio.

All other BBC Outlets use Viz to generate the lower third straps. These are now installed in Salford and BBC Scotland.. and provide NC/BBC 1 Bully style animations on and off...

The text is the same font - but because of the way that the text is generated it looks slightly different and the animation does not happen with the Aston Motif.

Does that start to make sense....??

I think so. So the 2 line aston was sent to the Aston Motif machine rather than the VizRT and therefore actually being generated by a different bit of kit than the one that followed shortly afterwards?

I think both myself and BBC LDN had presumed that the astons were only generated by VizRT and therefore what we were seeing was a separate template rather than output from a different system.

I take it that this also acts as a backup incase Viz ever breaks down?

I think N6 has two sets of Viz kit, and the second is used for astons during BBC1 bulletins via a DSK on the mixer rather than than being added further downstream along with the ticker, so that BBC1 can get a feed with astons but no ticker.

Olly stated at the end that sports round ups are moving to just after 30 mins past the hour instead of 45 mins past.
