Signal Strength is about 60% for Input's 1 & 2 and signal quality is 60% for input 1 and only about 20% for input 2! (take it thats not good). Digibox is a Sky+ Amstrad model: A2P0524 version: 4F2104 and the operating system is 1.31B03 is this helps?

Looks like a double whammy for you Sad That signal quality is poor, that does indicate dish alignment problems, and your receiver being an Amstrad, probably has the suspect chip set. I'd get the dish looked at.

Does anyone else think that the current Match of Day Studio would make a good BBC News studio for the BBC1 news?

Yes, it's heaps better. The curved shape of the wall is preferable to the box look they've gone for. Problem with it is it's a bit of a ITV News look replica with real elements as opposed to all the green screen stuff. But if you can improve on an existing look, then why not. There are very few original ideas in presentation anyway.

Ooooh! Full countdown @ 12:00 They even had to hold an advert because they didn't have enough footage to cover the gap

Was it 90" or 60"?

60", I don't think they have enough new audio, hence why there was the 15 second pause inbetween an advert and the countdown.

I know people on this forum get excited about a full countdown but its pure sloppyness to hold an advert.

Also, today we had the BBC News at 6.05, so had 5 minutes of News Channel before the National News, with the same presenter but a completely different running order. To anyone watching on the 24 hour channel it just looked pathetic and the first 5 minutes were almost apologetic.

They really need to sort their act out, the BBC News Channel is not an established brand like N24 and a previously sympathetic audience's patience will soon dwindle.

I saw this too - was strange as they used the 90 second audio into the ten twice through the week - even if it was played over the rotating weather globe its still better than silence.

I'm wondering if the 90" countdown only gets queued up for the 10? i.e. to allow a few extra secs prep time in the gallery? Funny how when the countdown faded in though there was only 52 secs left to go but the music had only just started. Unless this is because of the network id at the end of the countdown now.

Couldn't agree more - I know the BBC One schedule isn't likely to change - if the new has to go at 6.05, then that's where it has to be. This is where the idea of simulcasting every single bulletin annoys me and the flaws soon become evident.

You're right - it made the channel look very inconsistent - Peter hands to the weather at 5:57 (or was E24 on at quarter to?)...anyway, followed by a regular BBC News (24!!) TOTH....but with a different presenter Confused Mishal then does one or two stories and says BBC One will be joining us. The same two stories are covered again in this bulletin, which ends at around 6:20. Mishal however continues on the BBC News Channel until the weather, until after which Peter reappears.

All of this consistency is complete rubbish - the News Channel studio would be fantastic for the national news bulletins, but not for a rolling news channel. Now, I can live with the weekday 1,6 and 10 being simulcasted, due to the times at which they start and end, but I honestly can't understand how the BBC think it looks good to a relatively short national bullein staring and ending at an obsure time interrupting a 24 hours news channel's running order - looks messy beyond belief.

Move the NC out of N6 (that's unlikely I know, but in a perfect world)- keep it for the national bulletins. Put News 24 in N9 for the time being, with World coming from its second set until N8 is refurbished. Put News 24 back in N8 at this time, refurbish N9 - that would be a whole lot better IMO. Would probably cost too much money, but BBC News is really going down hill I'm afraid to say.

But the whole point of the changes was to take a studio (N9) out of commission, which is the fundamental flaw in your logic.
