Very odd. Goes to show though that the BBC News logo isn't needed on screen.

Not really. It's not just there to look good, you know.

Well with the constant name checks, theme music and titles, I doubt the on-screen logo makes that much of a difference anyway. It's basically just a DOG and with digital receivers today telling you the channel name anyway there isn't any need for it.

What about public places which are playing BBC News?

The colour scheme and studio backdrop are synonymous with BBC News. It is for this reason I resent being told every five minutes I am watching BBC News. I know it's BBC News; I'm not an imbecile. You may argue what if the studio backdrop and graphics were to suddenly change amid a rebrand. Well viewers would still recognise the font, the presenters, the globe motif, the weather maps and the music. All unmistakably BBC. The logo is not the brand.

I think you're overestimating the impact of a newsroom backdrop and font to distinguish brands. To many (if not most), it's 'the news'. Unless they are avid viewers of BBC News (in which case arguably the brand is not aimed at these people), most wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Sky or the BBC if you take away the DOG.

Repeat of last Monday's BBC One Panorama scheduled at 2030 on the SKY Epg, but up pops 'Click' again!

A few months, you used to get people moaning that 'Click' was always bumped, when on in certain slots, due to breaking news.

Now you're forever falling over it! (Well I seem to be!)

Will overnights be done from BH or TVC when World News moves?

Presumably BH as they're produced by World News, but I'd guess there'll be more than a fair share coming from TVC as they iron out any problems.

The Barcos were throwing a wobbly earlier it seems:

All seems to be okay now with Jane doing an interview from that side a few minutes ago.

They threw another brief wobbly just now, just for a couple of minutes going into backup mode with the fuzzy, disproportioned background.

EDIT: Gone fuzzy again at 18:30. They're really not having any of it today are they!

The problem:

I think they may have had trouble during the One as well because they didn't have the usual camera shot from the right hand side of the presenter introducing the weather presenter....same with the handback.

The ' DOG' also acts as a watermark these days. With more and more people capturing & sharing videos on places such as You Tube it helps ensure the broadcaster is represented in a clean & clear way.

Correspondent got part of the verdicts wrong and then apologised.

Oops - Fiona ended the newspaper review, did a summary of the headlines and then told us it was time for Click. After a good few seconds of smiling at the camera, she said "Do we have Click? No, it appears we don't have Click! She paused, then said "Gladly we still have our newspaper reviewers so let's just carry on with that!" and laughed.

One of them jokingly said "What! This wasn't in the contract!" and they managed to squeeze an extra five minutes in, leaving them the time to show 'Meet the Author' till the weather.

Out of interest. what normally happens after the newspaper review at 23:30 on a Saturday?
