Why? They do it every year, and if it's routine stuff it still needs to be done. The move's still many months away.

They don't do it every year. They didn't last year in N6, nor did they in 2008.

Well, I didn't think they did either, but didn't remember. From the way the question was originally posed, it sounded like they did.

The move is supposedly now 2013.

Where did you read that?

The final push will be in the first half of 2013 as domestic tv news and the weather operation move over. In total, five brand new sets will have to be installed for the One, Six and Ten, Newsnight/World News and the News Channel.

"Five brand new sets" sounds promising. They currently only have three sets for the One, Six and Ten, Newsnight/World News and the News Channel.

Why five?! The news channel needs one... world news needs one.... the one/six/ten need one... and then one for newsnight & other stuff. Why have they put Newsnight/World News together though I wonder...!

Bit of an awkward moment there on the news channel - the intro camera panned in with Matthew and Fiona glaring into the usual camera straight ahead for about five seconds, not saying anything. The camera then switched to the right one!

In the Broadcasting House thread, I think we determined that 'sets' actually means 'studios'. At one point, one of TV Forum's reliable insiders said the five studios would be one for the news channel and nationals, one for World News, one for BBC London, one similar to TC7 and a large CSO studio. Not sure if that's completely set in stone but that's what's been said.

I believe it was also said that there was some flexibility for the News Channel and World News to use alternative studios when appropraite. Someone might have described them as base studios but that it wouldn't be unusual to be making use of another studio. I might be completely barking mad though.

Will there be maintenance in TC7 and / or N6 over Christmas this time, making NC and Nationals move to N9?

Nope, it's planned to be N6 throughout.

He's referring to the now deleted snarky insider account which could be found @N6Gallery.

We'll have to rely on @UKI1091 and the @BushHouseMice for gossip then. I noticed that @BBCMosart had disappeared a little while ago.
