Seems as though they've now reverted back to using the 2010 countdown music leading into the top of the hour every hour, as shown at 11pm. Also the 'BBC' part in the red box has shortened back to its usual size

I'm sure they used the News 24 2006 music at 11am today. They have changed the endboard though - it's more similar to the one of 2008 than 2010. It's hard to explain but the way they animated was slightly different.

Good stuff. Nice to see that the countdowns have now been fixed and are not so messy, meaning that the swooshes are now more in place with what's on the video and, as I say, the 'BBC News' red box has returned to its standard, neater size. And the 30 second filler before BBC1 junctions has also been refreshed with Matt Frei removed, it seems.

Did you recut that then? I like it, not sure John Simpson's as keen though Smile

I do find it interesting we went through about 4 years without them being revamped and in the space of 12-18 months they've been refreshed 3 times. It would be nice if they refreshed them now and again as it does make the channel seem less stale and stuck in a timewarp.

I wish the newer footage had the same post production of the original stuff though, it looks really jarring when it changes between them. Surely it's just a case of running them through a filter before putting it together?

(Apologises if its far more complex than that and this is like one of those "surely you can just turn off the sign language person using the red button" type comments)

For those who keep tabs on such things (not like me, goodness no) they've just played a 'daytime' countdown going into the 9pm hour ie. one which finishes with a shot of broad daylight outside Television Centre

Is the 9:30pm headlines and/or the rest of the 9:30pm half hour simulcast on BBC World?

The headlines are, but then a recorded programme, like Hardtalk, is shown. Unforunately, I'm not a World viewer.

The 9:30pm headlines were not carried by BBC World News, we got headlines from Washington followed presumably by HARDtalk. (though I didn't stick around to find out)

The headlines normally are, as they always open with 'A summary of the headlines from around the world now' and close the headlines with 'Those are the current headlines from around the world' or something similar, allowing World to cut out at this point. A rare glimpse of UK-only presenters for World viewers!

Why don't Washington do the World headlines at that time every weekday? The current setup is rather messy IMO.
