That's happened before, when the night time backdrop was half shown on the back wall and the daytime was on the other half. There were some pics in this thread previously.
That actually looks better having the breakfast backdrop on that side wall, seems to have a bit more 'life' to it, mainly because it looks sharper. Although the image on that side wall seems to be a variation on the backdrop behind the presenter on the news channel.
Watching the news channel at the moment, the lower resolution blurred 'still' backdrop is on, so maybe they have had some problems with the BARCO system.
Will be interesting to see what they'll do for the late evening bulletin tonight, although there does seem to be some pre-recorded programmes, which may allow them to fix them.

More Barco problems in fact tonight, with the backdrop looking lower resolution and slightly stretched - and part of the backdrop has been repeated around the right side of the studio... they aren't using an image as they normally do for interviews suggesting that's not a possibility. It's not the first time they've had problems like this at weekends.

There are three main components to the screen systems in the BBC News studios.
1. The screens themselves - Barco cubes - which are fed individually from a number of multi-output screen processors.
2. The screen processors. These are under the control of the director or vision mixer, and take an HD background, and optionally allow SD video sources to be overlaid (zoomed and/or cropped and/or stretched) over this. The processors are interlinked to allow video windows to be split across multiple processor outputs.
3. The HD background servers. These replay the moving HD backgrounds that fill the screens when there are no windows filled with SD video overlaid. ISTR that each 3x2 block of cubes is fed by a separate HD backing server.
If the HD video servers fail - then an SD standby still can be overlaid - but because the source is SD (and probably very anamorpically squished) then the standby still will look a LOT softer.

Who is that female presenter standing up in the bottom image above? Is it Karthi Sporty?

Are the news channel having problems with the far side wall's BARCO's this afternoon/evening?
I've noticed that all the down the line interviews with the left presenter have been done on a split screen, or looking across at the BARCO's on the right, not the left. The TOTH that was just done had the Wide shot from the opposite side of the studio with a lot of tight shots. One would assume there's some technical problems from the weekend which haven't been ironed out.

Probably no standing for the 10 tonight then!
