I was pleasantly surprised and nearly fell off my chair when an Email I sent in got read out on Newswatch yesterday. I bet you can't guess which email it was. Razz Ray Snoddy even moved away from the desk to recap on the piece.

I'll give you a clue, its 3mins and a bit in.

I nearly fell off my chair when I heard it too, because I couldn't believe any normal rational member of the viewing public would ever make such a request. Thank you for confirming my faith.

At least I wasn't critical about the presenters themselves, as some other emails were.

What's wrong with criticising presenters, are they beyond reproach or something ?

The bigger question is do any normal rational membera of the viewing public actually watch newswatch? Wink

Sportday on the News Channel is being presented in a different way today - the sports backdrop covers the back wall of the Barcos and the presenter faces it - like at the start of the 10. They also used a panning shot to open the program.

My pal was a down-the-line guest of the show (airing concerns about the prevalence of "breaking news"), and was given "beer tokens" for his trouble. I still don't know exactly what "beer tokens" are. Needless to say he didn't share them.

I take it that with Matt Frei leaving to go to pastures new, they will need to revise the countdown sequences to the TOTH as he features on them quite frequently. I remember when Natasha Kaplinsky left, it took them a month or so to remove her from them.

And even then I seem to remember them replacing her with a generic shot of something? I suppose they'll have to remove Matt from both the NC and WN ones, too.
