Kind of combining the last few posts, how do we think they'll get over the fact that the current screens will be replaced with glass walls? Will they just superimpose other images, such as shots of interviewees, weather maps etc, only to walls? Will they use some sort of clever glass?

If the newsroom shot is behind the presenters, then maybe they'll have some form of newswall/plasma infront of, or at the side of the presenters.

Now that we know this studio will be used for the NC, does that mean the Nationals will also use that set? or will they have a studio space especially for them?

Just because the backdrop will be similar to the current set's, doesn't mean they will try to recreate it completely. They'll use a number of new design features and set pieces to make good use of the space.

I'd imagine something more akin to the current N8 setup myself, with BARCO-like screens to one side with the newsroom backdrop the main focus.

I could be barking up the wrong tree, but with Newsround and Breakfast going to Salford, Working Lunch having been dropped and programmes like Newswatch and Hardtalk being more flexible in filming schedules, could we see what's left of TC7's current programmes sharing a studio with the nationals? I can't imagine they'll have the nationals in that newsroom set - wasn't that banned after the infamous 'lesbian' protest, and all national bulletins moved to a more secure studio?

I can imagine Newsnight and the Ten sharing the same studio would be problematic, but it's possible they have a workaround.

I could be wrong - maybe they'll have a WN studio (newsroom based I'd imagine), a NC studio (also newsroom), a nationals and a separate 'Newsnight' studio, but it would be rather odd to have a whole studio pretty much only required for Newsnight.

Didn't a flickr account showing off the studios a while back show a relatively small studio with a caption saying something like 'used for the national bulletins'?

Here's a quick impression of what I was thinking of - like House said, similar to N8 but with a second smaller screen for double headed presentation. The actual studio will hopefully be a lot more stylish and interesting than that, and with a better desk Laughing

Interesting 'extra' on the Graphics output on coverage of The Police Federation conference, a strap shown regularly 'Courtesy The Police Federation' above the left side of the Headline.

6pm, and the BBC News Channel is sticking with Barack Obama's speech to Dublin.

BARCO failure behind Chris Eakin at 00:05 - at first it was displaying (what appeared to be a static) daytime backdrop, which switched to a black screen and finally a non-stable blue screen, with a small 'NO PC INPUT' line visible. Chris apologised mid-story for the 'slightly odd technical problem in the studio'.

Edit: Back by 00:07.

Sounds like some percussive maintainence has been applied!

I'm not sure - the screens currently seem to be showing a static, lower-resolution version of the daytime backdrop with no graphics being used on the screens.

Actually they're showing a picture of Bob Dylan on the side wall now, but the main wall is still using the poorer static daytime. Some kind of server issue?

It's happened before - on a Saturday about a year ago the Barcos got stuck on the Breakfast backdrop through till about 15:00, even during the BBC1 lunchtime bulletin. I did have a cap of Juliet Dunlop presenting around that 15:00 just before the problem disappeared. At this point a low-res, static version of the daytime backdrop appeared until the teatime bulletin when everything was fixed.

And the same blue 'NO PC INPUT' issue happened in TC7 on Breakfast a couple of years ago - take a look: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTClhvMEc1U
