An interesting clip I've found on the internet from the inauguration of Barack Obama, showing how BBC News prepared for it. Includes a quick sneak at what happens during presenter changeover (also proves the presenters do have legs!)

Funny that, I'm sure I once saw Emily's bag hanging out of that desk once but I thought I was going blind! And whoever said that they're not talkative, I bet there has to be some Newsroom feuds. I wander who really hates their shift/partner. I would say Ben Brown 'cos of his shift-swapping, but him and Joanna do have the odd laugh!

I'd say Ben Brown must be one of the most popular members of staff within the newsroom and his colleagues - he gets to present with everyone, aside from Annita McVeigh (maybe there's a feud there somewhere)!

Oh yes, I agree, I think I worded my post too strongly! I think I'll change it.

I wander who really hates their shift/partner. Maybe not a shift-swapper, maybe it's one of the 'other' presenters - I remember once when Jon Sopel was talking to Dominic Laurie and told him to "get a life" after saying that he "just came back on holiday from the Eurozone", as to which he unplugged himself and said "I've had it!" and walked off!

It wasn't that bad? The camera panned in sidewards like normal but went in too far, cutting out some of Alastair's face - so the camera quickly moved across so that his face was visible.

I believe the BBC World crew are running N6 midnight till 1am Saturdays and Sundays, as the overnight presenter comes at this time too. The camera angles are different and things tend to go wrong during this period presumbably because the crew aren't used to N6, they are used to the inflexible N8.

I was always under the impression that N8 was/is more flexible than N6?

Also, is there any reason why they don't use a wide shot out of the titles on the overnights from N8?

It is bigger but there's very little space for trying different camera angles or doing panning shots, and as much as they try and disguise it as something different, that tired newsroom in the backdrop is still there in the even in GMT, Impact Asia, and other programmes they do.

World showed the slide again while the UK weather went out.

Presumably only online - pres in the Broadcast Centre would most likely have filled with World weather.
