Nice couple of gaffs today - I'm sure that'll keep Anne Robinson busy for the next Outtake TV show.

Please can we lose the awkward handover at the end of the Ten? Chris is really trying but seeing both Huw and George over the past couple of days, they're just not really interested in having any banter with him!

The whole link afterwards is a bit shoddy too - is the Ten crew getting out of the gallery at this point which is why everything is delayed or not cued up right? Just cut the losses and go straight to the weather...

Yes. The bulletin at Six O'Clock feels very different to me, as if they are just dipping in for a bit. Of course, they are, but it didn't used to feel like that, nor should it.

Yes, I've noticed that, too. There's now no difference between the Six O'Clock News (and the One and Ten, for that matter) and the rest of the News 24 bulletins. I watched the Five O'Clock News today and couldn't tell the difference between it and the Six - except, of course, for the presenter.

It won't be Britain's favourite news channel for long, BBC News 24 was so much better, BBC News Channel is just poor, stale and boring.

Why do they keep making so many errors - they used to have these problems in the last studio and gallery.

Wrong captions up on screen - wrong VT playing, things not working.

Everyone would have been on the ball and being ultra-careful during the first couple of days. I know that they had a lot fo material pre-cut and ready too.

I suspect that now the first couple of days have gone, everyone's relaxed a bit and are off their guard. Also they would most likely have rota'd their a-team of most experienced and competant gallery staff for the first 2 days

I thought they were going to try and tighten up their technical and presentation standards.

I don't remember them saying that

Bring back BBC News 24! Have to say the whole feel of the BBC News Channel is getting very stale already. I too feel like i'm now just watching a 30 minute news bulletin over & over again. News 24 had life about it, Felt like you were part of something not just being told something. The whole atmosphere around what was News 24 appears to have been lost. The backdrop really is dire now, works fine on BBC One but all morning on BBC News Channel it just gets lifeless.

I think this new brand just feels like an endless national to be honest. Go back to 24 and get rid of those aufull TOTH thunderclaps. Exclamation

N24 and there 2003-2007 set with the 2007 graphics had a great feel to it ,yes people moaned about it at first but look whats landed now=absolute Bull s*** that looks like its been desingned by a media studies class.Did the re-brand team get a proper breif/did they have a clue what there were doing? because it looks crap!

It's just as awkward on the One. Seems to be no attempt to work with each other at handover points.

To be honest I don't see a big difference in the content or atmosphere between News 24 and the News Channel. Yes there are a few glitches, but these are understandable while they get used to things.

In a World where people are scrutinised like we are today no mistakes are understandable.

Exactly. The whole problem would be solved by just closing the programme properly (that's one thing I wish they had resurrected from 1999) and then going to the weather, back to News 24 on the half hour. It would be better for the regional news too.

Talking of the Ten though, I'm guessing the headline(s) after the regional news haven't returned considering the studio situation.

You'd be correct there. I was disappointed that they didn't re-introduce the proper close. It seems the BBC is now obsessed with holding onto every last viewer - as if 7 seconds of closing music is going to make someone switch off! Most people want to know what the weather is going to be like (probably more than the news in many cases!) so will stay tuned through a little blast of music. Considering the popularity of David Lowe's music, I'm sure most people wouldn't mind.

I can't understand why they can't use a short sting at the end of the 1 and 10 bulletins - it would act as a nice joiner after "BBC News teams where you are, goodbye" - then play a sting - then opt back to the main News Channel presenter.

Yep - Gavin was one of the original launch News 24 presenters. He presented the 1600-1900 slot with Sian Williams ISTR.
