What was so funny? I appeared to have missed it, other than Laura laughing?

Please say 'Tobin' or 'Laura Tobin' in future.

Obviously something funny was said to her in the weather studio just before coming on-air, her laughter incongruous with the preceding serious story.

Having just watched it I wonder if it's connected to Tim stumbling and almost saying ginger?

Ginger isn't funny so it can't be that. When you see her briefly on the barco, she isn't laughing. I think something happens just as she goes full screen or maybe just before. Probably someone went in to her studio and/or got their bum or something similar out. She puts her hand up as if to say "stop".

This isn't an angle I've seen used before for images before, doesn't look too bad to be honest. I know the same image position is used for interviews at that side of the desk.

Indeed, they used it on the Five earlier. Works much better than those awfully tight shots using the side walls, in my opinion.

It's very tight for the presenter on the left, because the wall is so far away, not so much for the presenter on the right because the wall is very close to the desk.

I don't think the tight shot looks too bad as long as it is done properly, especially when used to introduce bulletins, but it often looks quite awkward with the second presenter getting into shot or large amounts of the backdrop having gaps. They especially had trouble in the early days of the 2008 look - look at this terribleness below (courtesy of TV Room Plus)

By far the worst angle in BBC News is the one in N8 which shows the Barco - which is directly side on. It's so far zoomed out that the whole desk can be seen - and Zeinab Badawi and a few other presenters literally turn their whole body round to face the camera instead of just turning their head, which looks very, very uncomfortable.

Yes, I noticed that earlier and thought it looked nice Smile They do seem to be doing some snazzy bits with the Barcos over the past few days, as I said earlier - the other night when Chris Eakin was on talking about the snow - they used a full image wrap round the walls - rather than the far left wall.

I musn't do those Barcos any good just showing the same fake newsroom constantly?
