[I've ran a gallery myself and know how easy it can be to make a mistake like cueing up the wrong VT or aston, but 3 mistakes like these in an hour does nothing for a brand's reputation - especially considering we are now meant to see the naturally error-prone 24 hour news channel world as the same thing as the previously finely polished network news world.

Ah, but it kept me busy and amused for an hour doing the caps.
I'm easily amused Laughing

Is Gavin Esler a regular presenter on N24/News Channel?

He often presents the Five O Clock News Hour as well as presents Dateline London. He used to present a regular slot on the channel, and is one of the Newsnight presenters.

He does seem like a Newsnight presenter...

Does anyone else feel they've overlooked the fact that with everything now being "BBC News", they're actually diluting the brand? BBC News 24 has always had a different, more relaxed feel than the main bulletins. This reflected on the brand, and that was fine - it was a news channel, it was allowed. Now that it's ALL just "BBC News", the whole feel of the "BBC News" brand is being changed. I know the point of the exercise is putting the news channel at the heart of the operation, but I feel that it's going to damage the "BBC News" brand in the long run.

Yes. The bulletin at Six O'Clock feels very different to me, as if they are just dipping in for a bit. Of course, they are, but it didn't used to feel like that, nor should it.

They are defintely using the 90 second countdown leading into the ten - It was audible for about 4 seconds before it came into vision at 59 seconds! Every night since monday there have been over 50 second countdowns into ten oclock.

I think they should have kept the headline beds from last year TOTH/headlines/coming up.They were much better than this boring one we have now-I dont know why they botherd changing it as the old ones wouldnt exactley look out of place now as the titles are the same basic music-they should bring them back.

David Lowe's brief was to take the music back to basics. I'm quite pleased with it, to be honest. I always felt the 2007 music was very OTT, particularly on News 24. The National music was OK.

So how many references to News 24 have there been on the BBC News C-h-a-n-n-e-l since yesterday? I think it's funny - sort of undermines the suits' decision!

I'll disagree with you for once itsrobert, I think the old music added to the pace of the 24 hr channel, now its very boring, its almost a return to the bad old days of 1999

What bad old days 1999-2003 was the best era of bbc news.I think the 1999 N24 title music would sound better in the current titles than the 2007 tune.

bad old days for News 24, it was awesome on BBC World though during this period, now its all awful again, but BBC World is also awful now.

I agree - it kind of feels like the "BBC News Channel" Mad is just a standard BBC News bulletin over and over again, rather than a service in it's own right. They just don't seem to understand that having everything the same isn't the sign of a good brand. The brand seemed much stronger when it had various different things all linked together, but all with some of their own identity - even in the days of corporate branding.

Yes, I've noticed that, too. There's now no difference between the Six O'Clock News (and the One and Ten, for that matter) and the rest of the News 24 bulletins. I watched the Five O'Clock News today and couldn't tell the difference between it and the Six - except, of course, for the presenter.
