We're into the overnight BBC World sourced joint segment now, not typical but not unheard of to get guests during that, due to the simulcast element.

I didn't think we were, though. That half hour included a look at the national papers (though not in vision due to a fault) and (I believe) the sport with Sarah Stirk, and the back fifteen was Meet the Author. The 00:30 half hour was then Reporters. It's only when they're back in N8 at about 01:00 BT that World broadcasts begin again, is it not?

That's what I thought, though as I didn't continue watching it's possible the elephant interview was to be replayed every hour on the World News simulcasts.
On an unrelated note, does anyone know why ABC World News isn't shown on Fridays, but is Monday to Thursday? Do they simply prefer to use other programmes in that slot (such as Click, which you can only really show one weeknight a week) or do they have fewer resources on a Friday, meaning the availability of someone to edit out the adverts isn't there?
Yes. When I've asked about this before been told the overnight presenter does the weekend midnight bulletin on the News Channel only with BBC World having their own midnight bulletin before joint bulletins begin at 1am

Speaking of that, why BBC News 24 does not air ABC World News in widescreen? ABC WN has switched to HD years ago.

could it be they only take the SD feed due to the graphics issues? Although do the BBC not redo the graphics on their edit anyhow or is that just the stings etc rather than the astons themselves?

Thank Gawd someone in the gallery did not roll a BREAKING NEWS strap for Take That's tour date announcement presser.
EDIT: And then an hour later, the Gallery rolls the BREAKING NEWS strap for the death of Paul the World Cup picking octopus. GAHH!
/Oh well, callimari, anyone?

The graphics are all ABC News', including the "Live ET" strap to demonstrate to West-Coast viewers they're seeing a live programme on delay, but the ratios vary so much. At points the ratio means half of ABC News' graphics are hidden behind the BBC's ticker, yet at other times they're all perfectly visible.

Obviously rolling news has to take priority, but if they have to drop Ray Snoddy on Friday nights, could they find a moment to flag alternative showings, especially as it was trailled 15 mins before?
Only found the 345am Saturday morning showing by chance.
Is there still a Saturday breakfast showing?

Newswatch is apparently included in the 7-8am hour:
It's a shame that they can't list it separately.
It's on iPlayer too - the current edition is labelled as the 3:45 repeat - which is listed separately in DigiGuide.
Presumably this scheduled showing is a backup for iPlayer in case the 20:45 is scrapped like it was this week.
