BBC News Channel: Presentation

Is it just me, or have the TOTH countdowns been shifted forward an hour? Like for example, the 6pm version, including the likes of Ben Brown, Matt Frei and Lorna Gordon was shown at 5pm, and the 5pm version, featuring Mark Simpson right at the end, was shown this afternoon at 4pm.

I noticed it last night as well, when the shot of it being dark outside Television Centre was shown at 7pm...

A 57s version of the 8pm countdown being played there, at 18:59

Maybe it's because the evenings are getting darker earlier, or the News Channel is being flexible LOL

Very interesting to see the 11pm countdown being played out there at 21:59

If this continues into tomorrow, do you think the 90 sec countdown will still be played out before the BBC News at Ten junction?

Had anyone else even noticed that there were specific countdowns for particular hours of the day? I knew there were some that finished with TVC in daylight, and some that finished with TVC in darkness...

It's only at the end where Television Centre is either in daylight or night.

No, I hadn't. I don't actually think there are different versions for each hour. It seems a tad pointless if there are.

Who ever made up the text for the headlines thinks review is spelt "REVEIW"

There are definitely different versions which air at exactly the same hour, every day. IMO, it does give the channel a sense of continuity
