Granted it certainly wasn't a professional thing to do, and somebody of his calibre ought to know better with his experience of live telly.

However I did find the incident amusing, especially in the context of his and Simon's customary banter-- but I can see why people may take issue with this particular incident.

Given that Tomasz is a popular presenter (TRIC award, cult following, dozens of visitors daily to my blog), it's inenvitable that a backlash will thence occur-- ever aided and abetted with glee by sundry insecure fire-and-brimstone types (there's an irony in posting things such as "Tomas [sic] is an attention-seeking loose cannon"; besides getting attention is part of the job anyway, preferably without swearing though!). Predictably the anti-BBC outlets have had a field day, namely the Daily Wail, Telegraph and Sky. Although the Daily Mail tried stirring it when posed for Attitude wearing just shorts [gasp!]; but as we know the Daily Mail has a vindictive streak with people of Tomasz's inclinations, if you follow.

I wouldn't condone what he did, but he's not the first (and won't be the last) to something like that. Anthony H Wilson unwittingly had a foul-mouth rant live on Granada Reports, and went to successfully present for BBC NW/Manchester. I can think of at least three Loose Women presenters who've sworn live on said show, and they continue on the programme-- and LW continues to be a success.

He shouldn't get away scot-free with this, but I hope he doesn't get draconinian treatment for it . He looked genuinely mortified when the camera cut to him, it was accident (albeit careless one) and he doesn't make a habit of it on-camera-- he's good at his job otherwise.

I wonder if the lesser known presenters would have been subjected to this storm-in-teacup-- I think they can (and probably do) get away it more. Last I looked, the incident just garned seven complaints with Beeb, nobody complained to Ofcom. Ultimately There are worse things going off in the world to be geuninely outraged about, to paraphrase the old saying: One charismatic weather-present slips up on telly, a scandal-- daily Third World death toll a statistic.

I just hope he learnt his lesson. A suitable punishment would be for me to slap his legs, or for him to present the weather without clothes Wink

Yup, they've already mentioned how he was born in Poland. Bloody immigrunts.

They come over here, stealing our weather-forecasting jobs Wink Sod the fact he moved here when he was about four Laughing I was thinking more along the lines of Jan Moir/Stephen Gateley, I'm being wary of spelling it out, in case lawyers take issue...

I don't know why they bother with Newswatch, its just a winging shop for all those people who spend all day crouched over their tv, staring down Louise Minchin's cleavage - but are not members of TV Forum.

Just a quick question - one I'm sure you all know the answer to: are the overnight simulcasts on the news channel & BBC World News produced by the NC team or WN team? It usually comes from N8, but which team is actually producing it?

This morning there was no Andrew Marr Show, so when Breakfast ended at 9am, BBC1 had 1 hour of News Channel with Nicholas Owen, at 10am he said goodbye to BBC1 viewers and then straight to a countdown on NC for him to continue while BBC1 went to Suzanna Reid's prog. Suzanna still did a live insert at around 9.50am to say 'coming up on my show on BBC1' and handed back to Nick.

Was it advertised this time round, as last year they cocked up the schedules(Marr on holiday!) & had to schedule an hour of the NC to fill?

Why was there no Andrew Marr show?

If this was planned, why not extend Breakfast to 10am, instead of airing an hour long simulcast which will have left many viewers wondering what was going on.

It was planned this year, I might be wrong but I think it was BBC News last week too. With Match of the Day on BBC 1 between 7.30 and 9.00 I guess they can get away without extending Breakfast.
