Jings! I had no idea Amanda Davies was David Davies' daughter. Nice to see she's followed in his footsteps to become a sportscaster.

I recall David Davies and David Icke became the resident sports news presenters on BBC News at the weekend, with one of them usually appearing in the studio alongside Jan Leeming or Moira Stuart with the late news on a Saturday.

Prior to David Davies and Icke getting involved, the resident Sportscasters were Michael Blakey and David Cass!!! Anyone remember them?

On the subject of Amanda, I always think she presents very well.

I know this might be a daft question, but do the BBC News channel have to move to the N8 Gallery when they are doing the 9:30-10pm slot? Or do they just send the feed as if it was an OB. Do the 10 need a gallery for their rehearsals?

I'm almost certain they would need N6's gallery for rehearsals. They usually rehearse difficult sequences, e.g. opening headlines, sequences using multiple cameras, complex graphics, e.g. standing up at the wall etc. For this they would need a gallery. My guess is that the BBC World gallery team take over the News Channel between 2130 and 2200. It wouldn't make sense to have a physical changeover of crew just for 30 minutes.

You can tell when the galleries switch (usually during the weather bulletins either side) as you can see the picture does jump slighly when the switchover takes place.

Tomasz Schafernaker seen giving "the finger" to Simon McCoy this morning as a joke after Simon teasing him about inaccurate weather forecasts. There was no great apology either. I've got a crappy video on my phone I could upload to show it.

Love it, hope he doesn't get into too much trouble for it, he does make watching the weather more interesting!

Does anyone have any idea how serious the BBC would take such a thing? Is it considered as bad as deliberately swearing on television?
