Is there no way they could've brought the likes of N9's gallery into service to do this World Cup closing thing & let N6 go out on BBC One only?

Surely all they needed was access to the feed & maybe a ticker & let it run?

(Suppose it would cost just to man N9 gallery just for half an hour? What is N8 doing at the moment? Is World transmitting World Cup related programming too?)

Hope this is a situation that is remidied when they move to BH?

Hmm . . . interesting that there was a normal TOTH at 11pm then straight into World Cup Sportsday without even a news summary (Sportsday having been delayed because of the BBC One simulcast at 10.35pm).

Surely Sportsday could have waited for ten minutes, or even until 11.30pm.

Two unusual sightings on the NC tonight - dual female presenting with Martine Croxall and Sue Thearle, and Jonathan Charles reporting live from South Africa, rare to see him away from World.

Given the events of the day, not a bad choice to have Sue Thearle on duty, one assumes?

JC anchored one edition of BBC World News from Madrid, joined by Amelia Harris in Amsterdam and James Pearce in SA. Peter Dobbie was in the studio.

What is the point of Newswatch on the News Channel?

Every week - 2 disgruntled viewers making a valid point of how the NC got something wrong or misjudged the reporting of an event.

Every week some boss of the channel rolled onto set to dismiss viewers concerns with an arrogant 'we know best what you need to see and we know how we need to do it' attitude.

Never an apology, never any admission that they will rethink future scenarios.

last night's was just awful. 2 absoloutely valid opinions of John Sopel's rubbernecking in Rothbury last week, but the BBC News boss not giving an inch on how even any elements of that evening could have been misjudged or inappropriate journalism.

While for 95% of the time, you're absolutely right (and it's the same for POV), they sometimes get a producer who does admit things weren't done right. When I was on Newswatch, my comments were dealt with very positively and the producer admitted things could have been done better.
