Bit odd. At 2127 Chris Eakin passed to the weather. Then out of that at 2130 came a generic 'globe' sting and we were passed to BBC World who gave us a short summary of "news from around the world" and talked about the shootings in "North West England". They then passed over to the recorded Look North piece.

Perhaps some repositioning of presenters/crews has to happen ahead of the Ten and they're doing it this way?

This happens every weeknight - N6 is used for rehearsals for the Ten, so the News Channel decamps to N8. Usually there's a round-up of entertainment news at this point in the evening.

Well done to the excellent Chris Butler off of BBC Look North who's been superb today.

Do you mean Chris Buckler? With the Irish accent? He's a national reporter I think.

I presume Moz means Chris Stewart, Chief Correspondent for Look North (NE/C). And yes, he has done a sterling job today under pretty difficult circumstances.

Chris Buckler, former BBC Newsline reporter and a now a national News Correspondent, has also been reporting from Cumbria today.

Sorry, yes, Chris Stewart - the ginger one.

I would also agree that he did very well, it's not often that a regional reporter gets thrust into the spotlight in such a way, but I felt he conveyed developments clearly given the circumstances.

Loving the new Ident here. But BBC still can't get the footage right. There is still reference to the 2007 style!

Will the News channel bring back those England World Cup pieces for the TOTH Countdown, please say no.

You mean this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gV-qrvQiJv0

I don't think they will - they made that in the days when they changed the footage every couple of months or so.

Mind you they could use the footage template and just add the BBC News box and new countdown font.

Is there anything stopping the news channel doing the TOTH standing up, as they do on World News. I know I've mentioned it before but it does look good.

Yes, the presenters are glued to their chairs. During the countdown, Tim Willcox is wheeled off and Huw Edwards is wheeled on.

HAHAHAHA! Brilliant!

Actually, maybe there is a lift for Tim that takes him direct from the desk in N6 to the desk in N8.
