How come the News Channel EPG never seems to get updated, especially on weekend BBC One simulcasts?

According to their EPG, it should be 'Straight Talk', but because of the simulcast, the late BBC One bulletin has been followed by E24.

Doesn't whoever compiles the BBC One EPG ever talk to whoever compiles the News Channel EPG, so they match?

(And when they advertise the likes of The Weather Show & it ends up a different programme!)

I've been trying to fathom out why that new end sting on the countdown looks so familiar and I've just realised.

It bears a striking resemblence to what LN wanted it as the closing title / end sting for bulletins back in 2007/8

They've been using that closing effect at the end of bbc news items on the breakfiller. Always thought it looked cool. I actually like these new countdowns - I think they match the new look better than the original 2008 countdown. I always had an issue with the 'back to basics' brief because (as I think I've ranted on here before) Lowe's stuff was never 'basic'. What is so interesting about his beter work are the complex and interesting rhythmic synth sounds he creates. And some of that is back in these countdowns, in fact I think he's using a sound at the start that is from the 2002 headline bed?

I don't think these countdowns are amazing, but I think they are an improvement to the "pip against dance beat" 2008 package. Apart from the end, it just stops again! He has never managed to equal the awesome ending of the 2006 BBC News countdown.

Seem to be some issues with the graphics this morning. No ticker and the straps are fading on with smaller fonts.

Hadn't noticed the absence of ticker but spotted the different fonts

It seems to be back to normal, except the ticker.

Did anyone just hear the woman on BBC News Channel ask an eyewitness if the gunman looked like a nutter?

Did anyone just hear the woman on BBC News Channel ask an eyewitness if the gunman looked like a nutter?

That's not exactly what she said but she did use the word nutter. She was asking the eyewitness what someone had said, something along the lines of " 'and he said that 'there was a nutter with a gun outside' "

It was Fiona Armstrong by the way, good fortune to have her on this afternoon, having presented Lookaround for many years

EDIT: they're repeating that interview now and the eyewitness did say the word 'nutter' first... Fiona just repeated it. Incredibly sad interview by the way, he talked about holding someone while she died
