News Special on BBC ONE at 5.15

This is the time when the BBC need a proper rolling news channel but they keep having to stop for specials like this. I'm sure BBC One viewers (who probably don't want the special anyway as they will already know the news thanks to Newsround and would have turned to a news channel if they were interested) wouldn't mind if BBC One just showed the News Channel for 45 minutes, they really don't need to see opening graphics.

Why did the News Channel feel the need to go to the weather just before 17:00?

I would take a guess at 5pm the need for a change of presenters?

Has the Westminster OB gone down? Huw threw to Nick Witchell at Buck House who was left standing uncomfortably at the end of his piece before Tim Wilcox in N6 picked up

Seems BBC Parliament has moved to the BBC NC feed too, more general issues from the BBC Westminster operation?????

Just a thought, but perhaps Huw and co are having to decamp to the outside OB position to allow George Alagiah to move in for the Six O'Clock News?

Parliament has got its own graphics covering the ticker, so it looks like the NC output is going through the Parliament facilities rather than an emergency back up downstream.

Maybe sorting arrangements for continuing some form of rolling coverage at 6,00

Seems like a waste of channel space for the BBC to broadcast the same feed on BBC One, BBC News Channel and BBC Parliament, except Parliament has different graphics

So, if the Lib Dems are meeting at 7.30, another news special at 8?

Nooo not Holby Ci+y and Who wants to be a millionaire - you can't not show them!! Laughing

Wouldn't matter for one night - nothing would happen at 9pm though (I hope)

BBC1's junction into the Six was a mess here in Yorkshire, and Parliament is still with the News Channel
