Beware assuming that a gallery's "desk" (I.e. vision mixer) is used to add a ticker and dog etc. This can be (and I believe is) added downstream of the vision mixer using a real downstream keyer (downstream of the mixer).

In other words the main mixer (or "desk") in a gallery can be in bypass doing rehearsals, but a feed from a different studio can still be passing through that gallery and be having the ticker, dog etc. added and continue on to network (to avoid too much network switching). It is even possible for the name supers etc. to be added under remote data control.

In fact I believe some BBC News galleries have multiple paths through separate downstream keyers to allow different graphics from different Viz engines (under the same slaved data control) to be superimposed over different feeds (so overnight you can have BBC News and BBC World News dogs bottom left without having to do the kludgy overlaid mask that was previously used, or daytime you can have two feeds - one with a ticker, clock and dog for the News Channel and one with different graphics clean of these for BBC One)

Looks like the 11am TOTH is coming from Westmister with Lauran Kuensbuerg... which went a little wrong to say the least, not her fault though.

NB: Laura doing an excellent job anchoring on the news channel from Westminster this morning... would love to see her presenting on the news channel now and again, she'd be really good!

The screens looked terrible during the weather on the 1 today. http://bbc.co.uk/i/rydhq/?t=29m01s

Blimey, that looks like the best part of an inch gap has appeared there - was there an earthquake at TVC overnight?

They seem to have sorted them now... as I say there was a screen behind the presenters that was totally out of allignment!

Well that TOTH was pretty pointless wasn't it?

Time for headlines & one story before the BBC One simulcast.

Just flicked over to see John Hammond doing the forecast with lapel mike in hand - looks like he had sound trouble, linked out saying he'd be back with a new microphone in half an hour.

Just tuned in, and to my surprise, Nik Gowing is presenting a Simulcast on Both BBC News and BBC World News live from Warsaw.

I could be wrong, is this the first time he's appeared (other than Dateline London) ?

Pre-news channel days, Nik also famously appeared simulcast on BBC World and BBC Network on one fateful night in August 1997, announcing the death of Princess Diana.

No, if I recall correctly, he was stationed in Kuwait during the early days of the Iraq War in 2003 and presented on both BBC World and BBC News 24.
