Beware assuming that a gallery's "desk" (I.e. vision mixer) is used to add a ticker and dog etc. This can be (and I believe is) added downstream of the vision mixer using a real downstream keyer (downstream of the mixer).
In other words the main mixer (or "desk") in a gallery can be in bypass doing rehearsals, but a feed from a different studio can still be passing through that gallery and be having the ticker, dog etc. added and continue on to network (to avoid too much network switching). It is even possible for the name supers etc. to be added under remote data control.
In fact I believe some BBC News galleries have multiple paths through separate downstream keyers to allow different graphics from different Viz engines (under the same slaved data control) to be superimposed over different feeds (so overnight you can have BBC News and BBC World News dogs bottom left without having to do the kludgy overlaid mask that was previously used, or daytime you can have two feeds - one with a ticker, clock and dog for the News Channel and one with different graphics clean of these for BBC One)
